Themes for Enticing Entertaining
Planning your party should be a unique and impressive experience. Our themes will get you started whether you are planning on an intimate party for two or twenty. Choosing a theme will inspire and affect the overall feel of your event.
Party Alfresco in the Evening ~ There is something so refreshing about the great outdoors and entertaining outside can be inviting. Put your potting bench or an old sideboard to use for serving. Be sure to scatter lots of candles, tiki torches, or strings of lights around your patio or outdoor space, or consider netting over the table for a casual yet elegant feel. Beverages and ice can be stored in a galvanized bucket, a wheelbarrow or copper flower box for an added outdoor feel. Keep the party feeling light and airy by serving lighter fare foods and choose wines that are crisp and cool.
A Winter Warm-up Buffet ~ A buffet is a popular style for serving large groups. If at all possible, set the buffet near the kitchen so that it’s easy to replenish dishes. Stack the dinner plates, silverware and drink glasses on one end, with serving dishes in the middle and desserts on the other end or on a serving cart. Using tiered stands or props underneath the buffet table linens will add dimension and interest to the buffet set-up. Feel free to be creative with non-traditional serving ideas like placing breadsticks in a tall vase or wine glass, place dips in hollowed out vegetables like a green pepper or tomato. Soups can be served in a pumpkin or squash instead of a bowl.
Small Plates & Big Bites ~ Dazzle your guests with small plates of hearty food. Pairing these offerings with various wines also encourages guests to experience a plethora of different tastes too. It’s a relaxing and casual way of hosting that we think will be enjoyed by all. When small plates or appetizers are the meal, plan on six to eight offerings.
