1982 Graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
1984 Opened Toby’s Restaurant in Miami, FL.
1985 Named Chef of the Year by Food and Wine magazine.
1986 Arrived in the Napa Valley as founding chef for Tra Vigne Restaurant. Here, he begins creating his signature dishes – inspired by family traditions, the seasons, and local ingredients.
1994 Launched the flavored oil trend with Consorzio flavored oils after restaurant customers line up behind the kitchen to buy the infused oils created for Tra Vigne.
1995 Named Chef of the Year by the Culinary Institute of America.
1995 Published Flavored Oils: 50 Recipes for Cooking with Infused Oils (Chronicle Books).
1996 Published Flavored Vinegars: Cooking with Infused Vinegars (Chronicle Books).
1998 Received the Robert Mondavi Culinary Award. Opened Bistecca Italian steakhouse in Scottsdale, AZ.
1999 Published The Tra Vigne Cookbook. Launched the PBS cooking series, Season by Season.
2000 Founded NapaStyle, a media-driven retailer, to develop books, television, Internet, and a line of exclusive NapaStyle products.
2002 Released IACP Award-winning cookbook, Michael Chiarello’s Casual Cooking. Acted as monthly Lifestyle Contributor to CBS The Early Show.
2003 Launched Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello (Food Network) and NapaStyle.
2005 Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello (Food Network) wins two Emmy Awards; one for Michael Chiarello as Best Host of Service show.
